Two years ago I skied Saddle Peak for my first time with Turk, Rick, Pam, Herbert and others.
Today, just my second time, it is with Rick Ladzinski and Turk and a couple others. Clear, perfect visibility, great guys for guides. I skied the morning by myself and at noon did a 50 minute Bradley's Meadow round trip. I then headed to Bridger and then to Pierre's Knob to see how it was skiing south. Ran into Rick Ladzinski and he invited me to join him over on Slushman's lift since it had just opened. The snow was so blown in and very dependable and forgiving. We had 2 great runs together making big GS turns almost side by side from top to bottom. Then it was time for him to meet Turk et. al. for the 2:45 hike over to Saddle Peak. I have to admit, I was nervous and having not eaten since breakfast, I was concerned about loosing to much heat on the hike up in the wind or maybe cramping up and not being able to skillfully ski my way down such a challenging slope. Rick did not pressure me and instead just said that we would all look after each other, as usual, and that the conditions could hardly be better. I just put one foot in front of the other and kept on going till I was on top and ready to go. It was epic and awesome and so worth it! Then Rick and I skied one more Slushman's, then one more Bridger and then hiked up Bradley's for one final last run. I was really sore later that evening, it was really a big day for me to ski with the Big Boy's. I skied a total of 16,498 vertical feet and close to 30 miles linear travel from North to South and back North again. Gave Rick a ride back to his Car at The Daily and look forward to spending some more time with he and Steve Titus on future Bridger Bowl outings.
